About the role

Drop is a company inspired by food and the power it has to bring people together. We’re technologists on a mission to make cooking effortless and rewarding, and looking for a Head of People Operations who can step into this varied role at an exciting time for our company. You will be tasked with developing and executing our people strategy, evolve the corporate culture, and play a critical role in shaping the broader strategy of the organization. The Head of People Operations will lead the charge on our efforts to shape and maintain an inclusive and innovative work culture, with the overarching goal of creating both short and long-term business strategies that attract, retain, and grow the best talent for our organization.

This position will oversee everything relating to our employees’ happiness and engagement at work, and develop guidelines and policies that reflect and support the company’s core values and beliefs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement HR strategies, policies and initiatives to build a high-performance culture across the organization. e.g. Employee Engagement, CSR, Diversity and Well Being Program.
  • Build upon company culture ensuring that company values are clearly communicated and embodied; own culture initiatives, including office space management, company events, and other initiatives to support culture.
  • Advise, coach and support managers regarding HR issues/Performance issues/challenges and facilitate effective and proactive decision-making to ensure solutions are realistic, fair, timely, consistent and effective.
  • Serve as a trusted resource to all team members to help navigate career development, management, respect in the workplace, and communication.
  • Manage and stay up-to-date on all workplace compliance issues.
  • Lead and drive the performance review process.
  • Create a Learning & Development program to support professional development and career growth for all employees.
  • Manage employee succession planning, professional development and career-pathing
  • Support compensation analysis and benchmarking, streamlining and rolling out company benefit schemes including healthcare.
  • Own company handbook and HR best practices across the organization.
  • Drive and manage the provision of employee data and management information in the format and quality required for the business.

Attracting and Retaining Top Talent

  • Establish recruitment processes and procedures to ensure that we have a short ‘time-to-hire’ and a positive candidate experience, including screening candidates and scheduling interviews.
  • Work closely with our hiring managers on job descriptions and competency matrices to ensure alignment across the hiring team.
  • Develop and drive initiatives to build and enhance employer brand including organizing and attending meet-ups and events.
  • Manage internships when required.
  • Manage contracts and offer processes: closing the candidates and conducting reference checks.
  • Responsible for all aspects of onboarding and new hire experience.
  • Contribute strongly to the development of innovative approaches to employee retention and engagement and be proactive and hands-on in creating a great office working environment.

Minimum qualifications

  • Minimum 5+ years of HR experience in an HR generalist role, preferably with experience of a startup environment with a global dimension.
  • Flexible, can-do attitude, combined with a high degree of resilience and maturity of judgment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (oral and written English) and presentation skills.
  • A team player with the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to be discreet and confidential at all times.

Desired qualifications

  • Match vision with execution: you have experience thinking big but execute with strong attention to detail.
  • Knowledgeable about and understand compliance, diversity and inclusion principles.
  • Strong working knowledge of Irish employment law.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, be able to plan, be well organised, work well under pressure, take initiative, and be flexible and cooperative.
  • Ability to manage changing priorities, multiple deadlines, and competing demands.
  • Strong analytical and project management skills, proven ability to design clear processes and a very detail-oriented yet flexible approach to problem-solving.
  • Experience implementing people programs including performance, employee relations, HR compliance (information security understanding), and employee development/growth.
  • Advocates for both our employees, and for the financial and compliant health of our business, understanding how to balance the two with grace.
  • You know your way around technology and have a keen sense of sharing information across multiple departments. We use Google Apps, Dropbox, Slack, BambooHR, and 15Five.
